Big Bang
How can you say that all that happened was a Big Bang,
A cold and heartless one night stand between two particles that can’t even consent,
That birthed an illegitimate universe?

Higher Education
Let’s be honest:
My boss didn’t even go to college
more than a semester.
All his knowledge
was self-education,
no senseless masturbation of facts
or tasteless mastication of others’ ideas.
And my professor’s daughter
Is making lots of dollars
on the side of a California mountain:
pot plantation—cash fountain.
And we tell ourselves that this is what we need,
but higher education doesn’t come cheap
and I’m digging myself deeper in debt
hoping the piece of paper I get
at the end of four years will dig me out.
But degrees can’t hold shovels,
and if I call a spade a spade,
I should know I’m in trouble.
So should I get that MFA?
And will I be happy at the end of the day,
at the end of the decade,
with another three years of sitting in class
and bullshitting papers out of my ass
all for another piece of paper?

An Evening with J. Alfred Prufrock
At the start of an evening…
            "Alfie, you look nearly ill."
            "I am not."
"Honestly, would you rather just stay home tonight?"
            "Of course not. I just would rather not go to this party. "
            "Where would you go instead, you silly goose? There are not many places to be."
            "Oh, there are a hundred thousand other places I would rather be. There is Paris, Rome, America, India, Panama, Antarctica! Name anywhere in the world, and I would probably rather be there. However, all of them are simply implausible at the moment."
            "Are you coming with me or not, Alfie?"

Voodoo Lover
The voodoo man put a spell on me
that made ev'ry other lover too hard to see.
Their bodies blurred, and each face grew dark
til all that I could see what the magical spark
in his eyes as he smiled with alligator charm.
I had no choice but to take his arm.
I nearly, as he wickedly kept
my heart on his pins and needles, wept.
But every time I feared he'd go,
he returned to me to murmur spells soft and low:
"As long as you're mine, you'll feel no harm."
He gave no choice but to take his arm.

I'd just like to point out, with some hindsight in hand,
while I lay on this bed, in this room,
how ironic a phrase that "deflowered" now seems,
as I've never felt fuller in bloom.

Rotten Apples
You've had fifty rotten apples;
you have fifty rotten cores.
You leave my skin with bruises, yes, but
still I beg for more.
Oh, I will let you eat me up,
before I also rot.
Though one more core I'm sure to make,
and soon I'll be  forgot.

The Missing Piece
See, I always will hold one more piece of the puzzle;
there's always just one more space left.
But the piece never fits in the space it's supposed to,
and it isn't the puzzle left feeling bereft.

Before the Storm
The approaching storm
Is prophesied in the wind.
In fear, the tree shakes.

Childhood Friend
(Fireflies, mosquito bites)
We watched the stars on summer nights;
(A stand to sell our lemonade)
We counted out the coins we made;
We waited for the ice cream truck,
And blew wish fairies for good luck.
We played some kickball in the street,
Hid inside from noontime heat;
(Bedroom window) we were spies,
(Scary movie) hid our eyes,
(Our favorite song on the radio);
To the playground, then, we'd go.
I always lost in basket ball;
Sports, in fact—you won them all.
I hung out once when you were sick.
We jumped on your yellow pogo stick;
It seemed like, on the swings, we'd fly;
We laid and watched the clouds go by;
Imagined owning, driving cars,
And how that time just seemed so far!
Those years, like you, have come and gone.
Our separate lives are moving on.
We're Facebook Friends, now—nothing more.
Do you remember? That I'm sure.

FAIRIE by loboto FAIRIE :iconloboto:loboto 1,193 111
Look at her; she’s a porcelain doll with never-ending milk legs all stapled to the bed, thirteen years young with forty-eight years suffocating her figure. He’s right up to her baby lips, offering cigarette breath and grinding his stubble on her cheeks, it reminds her of gravel and she closes her eyelids as it falls across her neck, inhaling the cloud of dust.
The curtains are draped across the sky, dried blood red casting shadows she can’t tell the ends of. A dim flicker of a light and maybe a filter of moonshine illuminate the crevasses of his eyelids, forehead and awry mouth. His skin tastes of sweat and earth.
She was with her father in the afternoon, sharing his eyes and wearing the yellow dress he bought her. He was a quaint man who studied birds and told her she looked like a canary; he bought a voluminous cage (from the very same balding man he sold her to) and kept her in there at nighttime.
And now, three oh clock in the morn, the balding man has her; he’s

At least for some writing I've been working on.

Maybe someday I'll actually get around to posting pictures of the things I sew.

You can only hope.

I'm a theater student living in Virginia Beach. I aim to go into costume design, but I also love to write, as writing was my intended career path before theater won me over.

Personal Quote: If you want to get what you believe you deserve, you have to work harder than you believe you must.
